Our ethos is to reinvest profits into our clients, new services, our team and our community. We believe that this is the best way for a business to prosper and grow sustainably.

The best way to grow is by providing services our clients want in the way that they want them - so that’s what we do. So far, our approach has led to us investing in a graphics team who produce great 2D and 3D images and 4D videos and recruiting in-house bid writing expertise. In 2019 we are launching a 3-minute end of project client survey that we hope will give us even more insight and make sure we are delivering what our clients want consistently.

We strive for excellence in everything that we do so every project has to be better than the last. We insist that our team continually update their skills and knowledge. All planners receive proprietary ASTA training when they start and are then supported through the CIOB programme. Training forms part of our 3-monthly cycle of Personal Development reviews.

The team is involved in business decisions through our quarterly team meetings and annual Strategy Day. Milestone is as good as the people in it, so we invite everyone to contribute ideas. We value Health and Wellbeing as a priority for the business and encourage everyone to be active and to have a work:life balance that allows for interests and a life outside work.

We are a Living Wage employer.

Milestone is very much part of the community we serve. All staff are encouraged to use their five charity days each year, from a sponsored bike ride to a project working with the elderly in the Chew Valley. Staff can also use these days for pro bono work if they wish to do so. Each month the team chooses which charity they wish to donate to: recipients in 2019 have included Diabetes UK, Above and Beyond (Bristol’s Hospitals charity) and Housing for the Homeless.

As a team, Milestone discuss charities or causes they would like to support throughout the year and alicate a donation for every month.

Milestone was shirt sponsor for Bath Rugby's tight-head prop Sam Nixon for three years and followed his career from Academy player, through senior contract to his exit to join Aviron Bayonnais, one of the French Top 14.

We have watched his dedication and commitment to training and his development as a player with Bath Rugby with enormous pride and are delighted that he has followed his dreams to a new and more challenging adventure.  More game time will only mean that he will gain the skills needed to enhance his natural talent to become a formidable player.

Sam says “A very big thank you to Mick and Sally of Milestone for their sponsorship support. It has given me a great opportunity to develop my rugby career, and I am proud to have been able to represent them”.

We have yet to decide whether we will sponsor a new Academy player next season and await news from Bath Rugby.

Milestone are keen to maintain links with the military community. One of the ways we are able to do this is through shirt sponsorship for the Royal Engineers Rugby League team.

The new shirts for the 2019 season look superb and the Milestone branding got its first outing on the No3 shirt worn by powerhouse centre Abu Vata in the keenly fought 24-18 victory over the Royal Logistics Corps in the Lawson Cup.  We are looking forward to seeing them play in the semi-finals in July against the REME.

Mick said “Much of my approach to business leadership has its roots in Rugby, both in the training sessions and on the pitch.  I was lucky enough to play Rugby League once or twice for the Sappers back in the day, so it’s a great honour to have the opportunity to put something back into the sport I took so much from”
